Meet the PowerFeed Team
Carlton Neel is the CEO of Chaikin Analytics. In that role, he is deeply involved with product strategy along with leading the team to high-quality investment opportunities.
Carlton brings a rich financial background to Chaikin Analytics. He was one of J.P. Morgan's youngest vice presidents. Then, at age 27, he left to start his mutual-fund management career in 1995 with noted investor and market guru, Dr. Martin Zweig.
While at Zweig's firm, Carlton was responsible for managing a quantitative-research staff and overall portfolio overseeing billions of dollars of investments. Several quantitative stock-selection and sector-analytic models were developed under his guidance and successfully used in real-time money-management products.
Carlton has managed open-end mutual funds, closed-end mutual funds, variable annuities, and managed his own hedge fund for a brief time. He has experience managing a variety of investable vehicles including equities, fixed income, futures, options, and foreign currencies.
Pete Carmasino is our chief market strategist at Chaikin Analytics. He has more than 25 years in the financial-services industry. Pete's years of knowledge in many different strategies help thousands of our subscribers to decipher the markets... His ability to take complex concepts and break them down into digestible information is a true asset.
Prior to joining Chaikin Analytics, Pete owned and operated a registered investment advisory ("RIA") firm where he managed his clients' portfolios using his proprietary methodologies. And he spent the bulk of his career as a portfolio manager for high-net-worth families, individuals, and institutions.
Pete brings portfolio-management experience to Chaikin Analytics from some of the largest names in finance – including Prudential Securities, Lehman Brothers, Wachovia Securities, and PNC Investments.
Marc Gerstein, the director of research at Chaikin Analytics, is an unconventional "quant."
He has long specialized in rules- and factor-based equity-investing strategies. And he authored two books on stock screening – Screening the Market and The Value Connection.
Marc met company founder Marc Chaikin in 2010 and eventually assisted in developing our proprietary "Power Gauge" system. He eventually joined the Chaikin Analytics team in 2018.
Marc's quant inclinations trace back to his early days as an attorney (mainly criminal and landlord-tenant proceedings). In that world, everything Marc did had to be supported by evidence or legal authority.
He first applied this evidence-oriented approach at Value Line, an independent investment-research firm that he joined in 1980. There, he learned to relate human investment stories to that company's "Timeliness" ranking system.
Before coming to Chaikin, Marc used screens to create and write The Reuters Value Review and The Reuters Growth Review in the mid-2000s, and The Forbes Low-Priced Stock Report from 2010 to 2015.
During the mid-1980s, Marc managed the Value Line Aggressive Income Trust. That's a high-yield ("junk") bond open-end mutual fund. He steered the fund through the Drexel Burnham scandals and the related junk-bond storms. He came away from that experience with a non-academic but highly reality-based understanding of risk.
Karina Kovalcik is a new rising star in quantitative finance. She joined Chaikin Analytics in 2018 after receiving her degree in economics at Yale University. In school, Karina studied under Nobel Prize winners Robert Shiller and William Nordhaus.
Karina uniquely combines her analytical and technical perspectives to find high-impact investment ideas. She specializes in applying pattern recognition to the technical-analysis tools presented in the Chaikin Analytics platform.
